ICE Information Quality Act Request

On September, 24, 2019, Protect Democracy — together with the ACLU of Southern California, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, and immigration attorney Andrew Free — submitted a Request for Correction under the Information Quality Act (IQA) to ICE.

The request asks ICE to correct misleading and plainly incorrect information in the recently-published “Letter to the American Public.” ICE’s Letter (which they widely promoted via social media) seemingly deliberately misinforms the public about ICE’s arrest and detention power and the rights of non-citizens and advocates — and it dramatically misrepresents ICE’s detention practices.

ICE has sixty days to respond to the request.
