Rae Steward

Rae Steward is chief of staff to the executive director at Protect Democracy. In this role, she serves as a strategic partner to the ED, helps ensure the organization operates with clarity and alignment, supports executive decision-making, and strengthens cross-team coordination. Rae brings experience solving complex operational and strategic challenges at the intersection of democracy, media, and innovation. Prior to joining Protect Democracy, she was Managing Partner at Investing in US, where she provided risk capital and portfolio support to organizations strengthening American democracy. She previously served as Director of Systems and Strategy at Magic Labs Media, an Emmy Award–winning production studio focused on social change through storytelling. Earlier in her career, Rae worked in emergency medicine serving indigent populations, an experience that continues to shape her people-centered and systems-aware approach to leadership.
