Sami Thompson

Sami Thompson is the legislative and advocacy specialist at Protect Democracy, where she advances legislative strategies and coalition-based advocacy to strengthen democratic norms and institutional guardrails. She brings significant Capitol Hill experience, having previously served as the Judiciary Legislative Correspondent for Senator Raphael Warnock where she translated complex policy into clear briefings for the office and stakeholders. Her policy experience is supplemented with political communications skills, as she served as Deputy Director of African American Media for Senator Schumer as well as a Strategy Associate at the Penta Group. In these roles, she developed targeted messaging, managed media relationships, and crafted communications that distilled complex policy for diverse audiences. Sami holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Political Science from Stanford University.
