Sara Chimene-Weiss


Before joining Protect Democracy, Sara was an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the District of Arizona’s Capital Habeas Unit, where she represented clients facing the death penalty. Previously, she was a fellow at the ACLU’s National Security Project. Before that, she represented low-income clients in Lawrence, MA. Sara served as a law clerk to the late Honorable A. Richard Caputo of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. In law school, Sara interned for a democracy NGO in Nepal, for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and for the EPA. Sara received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her A.B. from Brown University.
