Amit Agarwal is a Senior Counsel at Protect Democracy. He served as Solicitor General of Florida from 2016-21, and he was a law clerk to Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. on the U.S. Supreme Court and to then-Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Among his other roles, Amit has served as Deputy Chief of the Appellate Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida and co-chair of the appellate team for a major national law firm; and he previously held the Richard W. Ervin Eminent Scholar Chair at the Florida State University College of Law, where he taught a course on the constitutional separation of powers. Amit received his B.A. from Duke University and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
