Blake Jelley
Communications Strategist

Blake Jelley devises communications and advocacy strategies to counter the autocratic threat and advance reforms that strengthen democratic institutions at both the federal and state levels. His work focuses on preventing election subversion and voter suppression, while promoting systemic reforms to modernize U.S. democracy and make it more representative and accountable — such as proportional representation, expanded fusion voting, and support for alternatives to the two-party stranglehold.
Before joining Protect Democracy, Blake worked with a range of national advocacy organizations, state-based campaigns, and as a fellow on Capitol Hill on issues from public education to LGBTQ equality — including helping to reshape the messaging strategy on marriage for same-sex couples at Freedom to Marry, which contributed to a landmark Supreme Court victory.
