Blake Jelley

Communications Strategist

Blake Jelley devises communications and advocacy strategies for Protect Democracy’s Democracy of Tomorrow work — advancing structural reforms that make American democracy more representative and accountable. His focus areas include proportional representation, expanding fusion voting, and other efforts to break the two-party doom loop in favor of a multi-coalitional Congress, alongside work to strengthen civic engagement and address the challenges (and opportunities) AI poses to democratic institutions.

Before joining Protect Democracy, Blake worked with a range of national advocacy organizations, state-based campaigns, and as a fellow on Capitol Hill on issues from public education to LGBTQ equality — including helping to reshape the messaging playbook on marriage for same-sex couples at Freedom to Marry, which contributed to a landmark Supreme Court victory.
