Hayden Johnson
Counsel, Free Expression and the Right to Dissent

Hayden Johnson is an experienced legal counsel working on litigation and policy projects to uphold free speech and press freedom. He was previously on the Free and Fair Elections team, which included leading the organization’s Electoral Count Reform Act project, successfully representing a targeted Arizona election official, and defending the rights of North Carolina voters against an effort to retroactively negate their votes. Before joining Protect Democracy, Hayden was an attorney at Campaign Legal Center, where he participated in dozens of election law litigation matters and advanced a range of policy projects at the state and federal level. He also clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Jill Parrish. Hayden is a high honors graduate of Georgetown Law and the University of Denver.
