Janine Lopez’s work focuses on protecting free speech, press freedom, and the right to dissent, using litigation and other forms of advocacy. She has also worked on efforts to ensure U.S. elections are free and fair. Prior to joining Protect Democracy, Janine worked at the ACLU of Florida, where she primarily focused on defending immigrants’ rights, and Arnold & Porter LLP, where she represented commercial and pro bono clients at the trial and appellate levels. Janine previously clerked on the U.S. Supreme Court for the Honorable Stephen G. Breyer and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for the Honorable Merrick B. Garland. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Brown University.
