Maximillian Potter is a writer and editor at Protect Democracy, attentive to how journalism and law pursue truth and accountability — the bedrocks of our democracy and bulwarks against authoritarianism. A best-selling author of two non-fiction books and a Contributing Editor to Vanity Fair, Max’s journalism has been a finalist for the National Magazine Award three times and earned the Silver Gavel Award, which is the American Bar Association’s highest recognition for legal reporting. Previously, he has served as Speechwriter and Senior Media Advisor to then-Governor John Hickenlooper and as a strategist for the Lincoln Project. He earned his B.A. at Allegheny College and M.S.J. from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
