Sara Chimene-Weiss is an advocate whose work focuses on strengthening our democracy through partnerships, advocacy, and litigation at the local, state, and federal levels. She primarily litigates on behalf of people targeted by anti-democratic disinformation, and seeks to create accountability and deterrence for such disinformation. Before joining Protect Democracy, Sara was an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the District of Arizona’s Capital Habeas Unit, where she represented people sentenced to death, and served as a law clerk to a federal district court judge. She is a graduate of Brown University and Columbia Law School.

“This is an effort to undermine people’s faith in American elections and American democracy based on essentially nothing,” Sara Chimene-Weiss, a counsel with Protect Democracy, tells Vanity Fair, adding that legislatures and outside officials have used election lies to “sow doubt” in the system and to “make it harder to vote based on these essentially invented fears and baseless reviews.”
