Sept. 7, 2022 – As the January 6 Select Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol resumes public hearings later this month, further evidence will be presented showing how Trump and his close associates likely engaged in a seven-part scheme to subvert the will of the people in a brazen attempt to hold onto power.

To help all Americans understand the investigation to date, the next steps forward, and provide resources to help prevent a recurrence, Just Security and Protect Democracy created a “Citizens Guide to January 6th and Ongoing Threats to Democracy.”

For the first time in American history, a sitting president sought to overturn the results of a presidential election and block the peaceful transfer of power.
