Protect Democracy joined a bipartisan request to increase funding for Congress FY 2022

Despite being a co-equal branch of government, funding for Congress is less than 1% of all discretionary federal spending. Diminished congressional capacity impairs Congress’s ability to perform basic functions, including its legislative, oversight, and constituent services responsibilities. A poorly funded legislature is also unable to maintain its proper role in our system of checks and balances, crippling its oversight abilities and delegating more power to the executive branch. An effective and efficient Congress that strengthens our democracy requires basic investments to do so. This is why Protect Democracy joined a bipartisan request to increase funding for Congress FY 2022.
