Technology Policy Strategist

Nicole Schneidman is a Technology Policy Strategist at Protect Democracy working to combat anti-democratic applications and impacts of technology, including disinformation. Prior to Protect Democracy, Nicole was Head of Community Product Partnerships at Facebook where she led a team advocating for the needs of community leaders in the development of Facebook’s community product suite and related integrity policies with a focus on Facebook Groups. Nicole earned her JD/MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Law and Wharton School and her BA from Georgetown University.

AI companies promise to protect our elections. Will they live up to their pledges? (opens a new window)

Nicole Schneidman, a technology policy strategist at Protect Democracy, a nonprofit founded by three former Obama administration lawyers to fight against what it views as encroaching authoritarianism in American politics, told CyberScoop that she is encouraged to see AI companies coalesce around principles for how their technologies should be used in elections.

“There are good commitments in there,” she said. “I’m just really hoping that they follow through on them, and work amongst themselves to make sure they’re exchanging information and best practices, recognizing that we’re all facing a really novel scenario and landscape.”
