On February 15, 2017, Protect Democracy sent a FOIA request to the Department of Energy (DOE) regarding a questionnaire that was sent to DOE employees by the Trump presidential transition team. The questionnaire sought, among other things, to identify agency employees who had worked on climate change, raising concerns that it would be used to take adverse actions against those employees. Protect Democracy has sued to get these documents, and the case is currently being litigated. See The Protect Democracy Project v.
