“However, we are seeing with increasing frequency something different and more troubling to folks like us at Protect Democracy. We’re seeing officials at all levels of government using powers of the state to target private companies for either real or perceived expressions of viewpoints,” Corey Dukes said, adding the tactic has accelerated greatly since the Trump administration. “Importantly, what we’ve seen in the last few years, too, is that no company is too big or too small to avoid being in the crosshairs.”
Corey Dukes leads Protect Democracy’s team executing our advocacy efforts on both the federal and state levels. During his time at Protect Democracy, Corey has directed our work engaging with 2020 presidential candidates and led our work anticipating and responding to efforts to overturn the election in several states. Previously, Corey served as a senior policy advisor to United States Senator Claire McCaskill, state director for Hillary for America, and as a senior advisor to Senator Elizabeth Warren. He has also served as a battleground state campaign manager and as a campaign and media consultant focused on engaging communities of color.
